APPLETON -- Appleton Fire Department is warning the public about the Fox River.

Recent heavy rain has made the river run high and fast, the fire department said in a Facebook post Tuesday. In order to manage water levels on Lake Winnebago, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be increasing flows this week, making the Fox River run even higher and faster.

Appleton Fire Department is asking people to take precautions around the water.

"Those with boats docked or on lifts near the water should monitor conditions closely and consider making arrangements to remove boats from the river," the fire department writes.
