APPLETON (WGBA) -- The Appleton International Airport has seen 95% of its passengers stop using the airport.

"Usually we see anywhere from 1,700 to 2000 passengers a day," said Abe Weber, the Airport Director. "Now it is around 30-40."

Airlines have reduced the amount of flights leaving Appleton because of it. Weber said there are only around 10 flights leaving each day.

"We are taking this time to make this plane clean for anyone who uses it," Weber said. "That means cleaning every surface."

Despite the low turnout, the passengers who did fly out were wearing protective gear like masks. Weber said the cleaning crew in the building are working more time to clean every seat and counter.

The restaurant at the airport is also only allowed to serve take out.

"We have had to take major steps," Weber said. "Everything we are doing is to help our travelers stay safe."
