OCONTO, Wis (NBC 26) -- Anglers from across Wisconsin and the Midwest made their way to the city of Oconto this weekend for the AIM Weekend Walleye Series. A fishing tournament that offered an estimated 51-thousand dollars to the best anglers and also a unique tournament format, allowing folks to social distance from the 100 plus anglers who are in the tournament.

Tournament Director Denny Fox says they've been running the AIM tourney in a similar fashion since 2009. It's a tournament that allows anglers to snap a photo of their fish, next to a provided tape measure, and then share the photo with organizers with limited physical contact.

"We are a catch, record and release walleye tournament. So they go out in the bay today and take pictures of their fish and how long they are and we're going to score them. Turn them into a weight on a conversion chart that we have developed over the years," says Denny Fox the National Tournament Director for AIM Weekend Walleye Series.

The upcoming AIM Weekend Walleye Series State Championship is coming up August in Oshkosh. For more information check out thislink.
