ALLOUEZ (NBC 26) — Resurrection Catholic Parish in Allouez will hold a prayer service Thursday night for the victims of the mass shooting at Robb Elementary in Texas.

A gunman killed 19 students and two teachers at the Uvalde, Texas elementary school on Tuesday. The gunman was later killed by police.

Resurrection Catholic Parish the service will be offered using the Taize' form of prayer.

"Taize' is an ecumenical community in France, founded by Br. Roger Schutz in 1940, to serve as a visible sign of peace in the midst of World War II," the church said in a statement. "While this peaceful prayer form has touched the lives of millions around the world since the war, the community itself has been affected by violence as Br. Roger was killed in 2005 by an assailant."

The church says Taize' prayer form is marked by meditative music, moments of quiet, light in the midst of darkness, and the cross at its center.
