An organization created in memory of a FDNY firefighter who died on September 11, 2001, announced plans to pay off the mortgage on the family home of slain Appleton firefighter, Mitch Lundgaard.
The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation made the announcement Wednesday. A fundraiser for Mitch Lundgaard is also available on the organization's website.
Mitch Lundgaard died May 15th following a shooting in downtown Appleton. The husband and father of three was killed in the crossfire of a gunfight between police and a Wausau man who also died in the exchange of gunfire.
The announcement to support the Lundgaard family comes as the Foundation’s 9/11 NEVER FORGET Mobile Exhibit will be in Waupun. The high-tech, 53-foot tractor-trailer that transforms into a 1,000 square foot exhibit will be featured at the Celebrate Waupun festival this weekend.
The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation's mission is to support the families of first responders and to ensure future generations remember the 9/11 attacks. More information about Tunnel to Towers can be found here.
