Name released in fatal Waupaca County crash

WAUPACA COUNTY (NBC 26) -- The 70-year-old man who died in the Waupaca County crash Saturday has been identified.

The Wisconsin DOT says James Denson of Waupaca was killed during the crash.

The crash is still under investigation.

WAUPACA COUNTY (NBC 26) -- A 70-year-old man died after his vehicle crashed into a tree Saturday morning in Waupaca County.

A WisDOT media release says the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a crash in Waupaca County, on CTH E just south of Southwood Drive, at around 8:25 Saturday morning. Medical personnel had already arrived on scene and were trying to save the driver's life.

The 70-year-old driver was taken by ambulance to ThedaCare in Waupaca, where he was pronounced dead.

According to WisDOT, the driver was traveling southbound on CTH E and failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle went into a ditch and hit a tree.

Wisconsin State Patrol is still investigating the crash.
