3-year-old boy dead after falling into brook in the town of Townsend

TOWN OF TOWNSEND (NBC 26) — A 3-year-old boy died after falling into a brook in the town of Townsend.

At about 4 p.m. Thursday, the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Dispatch Center received a 911 call in reference to 3-year-old boy that had possibly fallen in the McCauslin Brook located off Highway T near East Burnt Dam Road and Cassler Drive in the town of Townsend.

The caller said the 3-year-old had been missing for about five minutes.

Sheriff’s deputies and Lakewood/Townsend Ambulance Service responded. Upon arrival, EMS/Fire Department members from Lakewood/Townsend Rescue and Fire Department were able to locate and remove the boy from the water. Life saving measures were started immediately but were unsuccessful.

This incident remains under investigation by the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office and the Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family as they deal with the loss of a loved one," said Todd Skarban, Oconto County Sheriff, in the press release.
