19-year-old Hartford woman killed in tragic crash in Fond du Lac County

Deputies with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office and Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a one vehicle accident on Hwy 45 near Sandy Rd early Sunday morning.

FOND DU LAC CO., WI — UPDATE: The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's office reports the preliminary cause of the first crash was alcohol related.

Occupants of vehicle involved in initial rollover crash:

  • 19-year-old female operator form Hartford – deceased
  • 17-year-old male passenger from West Bend - transported by ambulance to Froedert Hospital Milwaukee with critical injuries
  • 16-year-old female passenger from Theresa - transported by ambulance to Children’s Hospital Milwaukee with serious non-life threatening injuries
  • 17-year-old passenger from Milwaukee - transported by ambulance to Froedert West Bend with minor injuries
  • 21-year-old passenger from Iron Ridge - transported by civilian vehicle to Aurora Medical Center Washington County with serious non-life threatening injuries

The Fond Du Lac Sheriff's office is investigating a crash that left one woman dead, and four others injured.

The crash happened on Sunday, at 1:10 a.m. on Highway 45 near Sandy road in the Township of Auburn.

According to preliminary investigation, the vehicle was traveling southbound when it entered the west ditch, and struck a culvert. The vehicle then overturned several times before coming to rest. Four of the five occupants of the vehicle were ejected during the crash.

Investigators say that after one of the occupants, a 19-year-old Hartford woman, was ejected, that she was then struck by another vehicle and dragged. She was later found by Washington County Deputies three miles from the initial crash site, and pronounced dead.

The three other occupants of the vehicle were taken to the hospital with serious life-threatening injuries. One occupant was transported with non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
