Lincoln High School was locked down this morning due to an intruder.

According to a joint press release from the Manitowoc Public School District and the Manitowoc Police Department:

Today at 6:45 a.m. a Lincoln High School student informed the high school office that an unauthorized adult man was in the building. Lincoln High School custodial staff approached the individual. The individual was uncooperative and combative with Lincoln High School staff. The 58-year-old Manitowoc man, who was under the influence, was detained by staff until police arrived. Manitowoc Police Department responded quickly and arrested the individual, who did not have any weapons on him when he was taken into custody.

Lincoln High School went into a lock down so police could insure that no other unauthorized individuals were in the building. Some students and staff members who were not in the building were required to wait outside until the auditorium and cafeteria were cleared as safe locations for those individuals. Students and staff waited in the auditorium and cafeteria until about 8:05 am when police and Lincoln High School Staff determined that the building was secure and safe. At that time, students and staff members were released to class and the schedule continued as normal.

Manitowoc Public School District continues to work with the Manitowoc Police Department.
