A human trafficking survivor shared his story of hope with people in Northeast Wisconsin this week.
Jabali Smith said he was trafficked at just six years old in Berkely, California and eventually taken to Mexico as part of a cult.
He was able to escape before his 12th birthday.
Smith said he hopes his message helps bring awareness to the problem of human trafficking across the country.
"Having been trafficked, I'm actually happy that it's come to the forefront in news and the public's awareness, because when I was young, it wasn't," he said.
Smith has written a memoir on his experience. For more information, visit his website here.
