Students and staff are safe at Green Bay's Southwest High School after it was briefly put into "secure the building" for an outside threat Tuesday morning, according to the school district.

According to police, Green Bay School Resource officers learned of a threat to Southwest High School around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

A threatening note was written by a 15-year-old female student, police said. As a precaution, Green Bay Police and the district put Southwest into a lockdown.

Officers quickly found the student off campus. The school was locked down for about 30 minutes, police said.

Officers are interviewing the student and working with the Brown County DA's office to decide if criminal charges will be filed.

All students and staff are safe, the district said. However, the police department will have extra patrol units near the school throughout the day.
