A community that just lost two women is coming together,.but not to mourn. Instead, friends and family say they want to celebrate the lives of Lauren and Cassandra Laabs.
Lauren and Cassandra Laabs' friends describe the pair of sisters as selfless, loving people. Their lives were cut short in a boat crash just a few weeks ago on Lake Winnebago.
Friends say the sisters wouldn't want them to grieve. Instead, they say they're going to enjoy the night with music and games, to reminisce on the light Lauren and Cassandra brought to their lives.
"The overwhelming support from the entire community has shown when unexpected circumstances come about, we can all come together," says family friend Austin Anderson.
Friends are also raising money to help the family out with funeral expenses. If you'd like to help, you can contribute to the Laabs Family Fund on GoFundMe, or at any Associated Bank Branch.
The family has already raised more than $20,000. Friends say extra money raised will be donated to charity in the Laabs honor.
