WISCONSIN — Wisconsin's presidential electors have officially cast their votes for Democratic President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris.

Gov. Tony Evers served as the chair and officially cast the state's 10 votes Monday afternoon.

“The will of the people is the law of the land. And we have accomplished that by determining who the next President and Vice President of the United States are," said Evers.

On Nov. 30, 2020, Gov. Evers signed the Certificate of Ascertainment, which certified Wisconsin’s election results for President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.

“Now more than ever, our country deserves leaders who will put people first and return kindness, empathy, and compassion back to the White House,” said Evers in a press release. “That’s why today we were proud [to] vote unanimously to assign Wisconsin’s 10 electoral college votes to President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.”

The vote comes just an hour after the state Supreme Court voted against President Donald Trump's lawsuit attempting to overturn the election results.

Biden won Wisconsin by about 20,600 votes, a margin that withstood a Trump-requested recount in the state’s two largest counties of Milwaukee and Dane.

Meanwhile, Wisconsin Republican legislators met Monday, according to Republican Party of Wisconsin Chairman Andrew Hitt.

“While President Trump’s campaign continues to pursue legal options for Wisconsin, Republican electors met today in accordance with statutory guidelines to preserve our role in the electoral process with the final outcome still pending in the courts," according to a statement from Hitt's Office.
