GREEN BAY (WGBA) -- President Donald Trump is scheduled to appear in Green Bay this Saturday for a rally at Green Bay's Austin Straubel International Airport. This will mark his third campaign stop in Wisconsin in just a few months. This move is getting some backlash from Wisconsin Democrats.
"We need a leader who cares about the health and safety and gets us through this pandemic," said Gordon Hintz, a Democratic state representative from Oshkosh. "Lambeau Field has not been able to be filled because we cannot hold large gatherings for safety reasons. The President himself is ignoring that."
President Trump said in Tuesday's debate that people need to hear what he has to say, and so far, they haven't had any issues with COVID-19.
However, the Brown County Health Department is urging people to follow safety measures and stay home if sick. Cases of COVID-19 have largely increased in the month of September.
In a statement the Trump Campaign said the following:
"“Americans are enthusiastic for President Trump’s re-election, and they want to and have a right to gather under the First Amendment to hear from the President of the United States. For the President’s outdoor events in Wisconsin, like his other campaign events, everyone attending will receive a temperature check, be provided a mask they are encouraged to wear and have access to plenty of hand sanitizer.”
