The Trump campaign filed a petition for a recount in two Wisconsin counties, Milwaukee and Dane. Here's what we know about the timeline of the recount process:

President Donald Trump and his campaign filed the petition for a recount on Wednesday, Nov. 18. He also wire transferred $3 million to the Wisconsin Election Commission to pay for the recount.

The Wisconsin Elections Commission officially ordered the recount on Thursday morning, which begins the 13-day process of recounting ballots in both Dane and Milwaukee counties.

By Saturday, Nov. 21, all county boards of canvassers must convene for the recount.

The recount must be completed and filed by Tuesday, Dec. 1. This is also the deadline for the Wisconsin Election Commission to verify the results, according to Wisconsin state law.

All results must be filed a verified by noon on Dec. 1.

“We understand the eyes of the world will be on these Wisconsin counties over the next few weeks. We remain committed to providing information about the process and assisting our county clerks by providing facts on the mechanics of a recount and status updates,” said Meagan Wolfe, Wisconsin’s chief election official.
