A man accused of trying to sexually assault multiple women at and near UW-Oshkosh early Sunday morning was charged Wednesday in Winnebago County court.

Joshua Immel, 27, of Oshkosh, faces eight charges, including fourth degree sexual assault, kidnapping and attempted second degree sexual assault for attacking or trying to attack four different women.

The Winnebago County DA said Immel went "hunting for women."

The first report to police came around 2 a.m., according to court documents. A 21-year-old woman told police a man entered her room on the 600 block of Amherst Ave and told her to take her pants off, the criminal complaint said. She said she screamed at him and after he walked out, she locked the door.

The man was later identified as Immel.

Her roommate told police she was sleeping in her friend's bed at the same house when she woke up to Immel pulling on her dress and kissing her, the criminal complaint said. She jumped out of bed and yelled for her friends to wake up, she told police.

Immel then grabbed her backside, court documents said. She told police she was able to get him out to the front porch, where she slammed and locked the door behind him.

Around 2:30 a.m., police received a call that someone had attacked a woman at Wright Street and W. Irving Ave.

The 21-year-old woman told police she was walking home when Immel, who she had never seen before, started walking behind her. At the intersection of Wright and Irving Streets, he allegedly grabbed her shirt, threw her to the ground and got on top of her, according to court documents.

Two men saw Immel on top of the young woman and got him off of her, the complaint said. He then ran away, they told police.

The woman suffered a concussion in the attack, police said.

A few hours later, just after 5:30 a.m., police received a call from an emergency blue light phone from a man saying he witnessed a woman being sexually assaulted.

The 19-year-old woman told police she did not know Immel, but he approached her on the sidewalk outside the UW-Oshkosh Campus Center for Equity and Diversity and walked her to her car, court document said.

After talking for awhile, he tried to kiss her but she shoved him away, police said. He then became angry and dragged her behind a dumpster, according to the complaint.

He tried to sexually assault her, but another man heard her screams and stopped the assault, the complaint said. The other man then brought the woman to a blue light emergency phone to call police.

In addition to the attempted assaults, Immel said he stole a car at some point in the morning and is being charged with operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent, according to the criminal complaint.

Immel is also charged with kidnapping, two counts of false imprisonment, fourth degree sexual assault, attempted second degree sexual assault, substantial battery and criminal trespass.

He's being held on a $500,000 cash bond. He has to maintain absolute sobriety and can't go back onto the UW-Oshkosh campus.
