Wisconsin health officials reported over 7,000 COVID-19 tests returned positive Saturday afternoon, setting a new record of coronavirus cases reported in a single day.
The Department of Health Services (DHS) said 7,065 out of almost 19,000 coronavirus tests returned positive. This is about 1,000 more tests than what was reported Friday.
As of Friday, the seven-day average of positive tests per person rose to 34.1%. This percentage includes each person tested only once across the duration of the pandemic.
The DHS said approximately 57,915 cases are still considered active across the state. An estimated 77.1% of people who previously tested positive for the virus have since recovered.
Another 45 deaths were reported since Friday, bringing the state total to 2,301 people in Wisconsin who have died in relation to the virus.
Hospitalizations increased by 173 cases for a total of 12,727 people to ever be hospitalized with the virus.
