MADISON (NBC 26) -- Wisconsin has once again broken its record for number of new coronavirus cases reported in a single day.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported 6,141 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, breaking all previous records, including ones set on Thursday.
Wisconsin has now also surpassed 2,200 coronavirus-related deaths. The state saw 62 new deaths Friday, raising the death total to 2,256.
The state's total number of confirmed cases is now at 256,065, with 77% of those cases listed as recovered. There are currently 55,684 active cases in the state.
The number of people ever hospitalized due to coronavirus in Wisconsin rose to 12,554, an increase of 244.
