Wisconsin reports 2,892 new COVID-19 cases, 19 deaths

WISCONSIN (NBC 26) — Wisconsin health officials said 20.5% of COVID-19 tests returned positive Saturday.

The Department of Health Services (DHS) reported 2,892 new cases of coronavirus out of over 14,000 tests. This is an increase of over 100 cases from Friday's numbers.

According to the DHS, there are 24,035 active cases of coronavirus across the state. The percentage of recovered cases dropped by less than half a percentage point to 80.6%.

A total of 1,372 people in Wisconsin have died in relation to the virus, an increase of 19 since Friday. Hospitalizations increased by 82, bringing the state total to 7,588 people.

Brown Co. health leaders declared a Public Health Emergency COVID-19 Alert. This comes a day after the Fox Valley area along with Calumet, Outagamie, and Winnebago County Health Departments issued their own alert.
