WISCONSIN (NBC 26) — Wisconsin health officials reported a new record high of 2,817 COVID-19 cases recorded in a day. This upward trend in daily case numbers has continued for the past several days.
The state Department of Health Services (DHS) said 22.4% of tests returned positive for coronavirus Saturday afternoon.
Over 18,000 cases are still considered active in Wisconsin, according to the DHS. About 83% of cases have been marked as "recovered" from the virus.
Seven more deaths were reported, bringing the state total to 1,281 people who have died in relation to coronavirus.
Hospitalizations increased by 79 since Friday, for a total of 7,041 people with the virus hospitalized.
