Nearly 40% of Wisconsin population fully vaccinated against COVID-19

MADISON (NBC 26) — Nearly 40% of Wisconsin's population is fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to new numbers out Wednesday from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

As of Wednesday, 45% of Wisconsinites had received at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine. New DHS numbers also show that Wisconsin has administered nearly 5 million shots in arms across Wisconsin.

As for new cases in Wisconsin, DHS reported 383 new cases of COVID-19 in the state. Numbers show the seven-day average for new cases continues to decline, after bumping up slightly last month. The seven-day average was 394 on Wednesday.

Additionally, the number of new deaths related to coronavirus in Wisconsin was also on the decline Wednesday, with five new deaths reported. This follows a national report which said, according to the CDC, the U.S. is seeing less than 600 COVID-19 deaths a day for the first time in more than a year.
