MARINETTE COUNTY (NBC 26) -- Marinette County Public Health said Friday it is not issuing orders at this time to direct how businesses and organizations operate.
“The decision to not issue orders was made after a great deal of research and careful consideration,” said Molly Bonjean, Marinette County Public Health Officer.
The announcement comes after counties across Wisconsin issued their own orders following the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling on Safer at Home. On Wednesday, the court ruled Gov. Tony Evers' Safer at Home order, intended to slow the spread of coronavirus in the state, was unenforceable. Almost immediately after the ruling, individual counties and cities in Wisconsin began issuing their own orders basically extending the Safer at Home regulations to their communities. Some counties did not extend Safer at Home, but instead issued plans on reopening businesses and services.
Instead of issuing an order, Marinette County said Public Health urges businesses and residents to follow best practices to stay healthy and prevent the spread of COVID-19. The county encourages businesses to refer to Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation for best practices.
The county said residents and visitors should continue to practice physical distancing and good personal hygiene.
