Fresh Thyme announced in an email to customers Wednesday that it will now limit the number of shoppers in its stores.

The grocery store chain said occupancy will be limited to 50% of each store’s legal capacity unless otherwise dictated by local mandates. This action is intended to help fight against coronavirus spread.

"We are reinforcing social distancing through PA announcements and floor markings, as well as ensuring our customer traffic patterns allow for social distancing," the email states.

Fresh Thyme also said it does daily health screenings of employees as they arrive to work, including temperature checks. Employees are also getting gloves and masks to use during their shifts. Plexiglass shields have been installed at all check lanes.

Grocery stores are also conducting regular cleaning of "high-touch" areas including cart handles, doorknobs, handles, and customer payment pads.
