IOLA (NBC 26) -- The 2020 Iola Car Show and Swap Meet has been canceled.

The Executive Director of the event, Joe Opperman, posted an announcement Tuesday on Facebook. He stated canceling the event, "was the only responsible option".

Multiple local summer events in Northeast Wisconsin have already been canceled due to concerns of the coronavirus pandemic. Opperman states organizers simply cannot produce the show without the ability to ensure everyone's safety. Opperman also cites an uncertainty about what restrictions or mandates may be relaxed by the time of the show.

Instead of a car show, organizers are planning a "Rally for Iola". It will include a drive through the show grounds and a street cruise scheduled for July 11.
