GREEN BAY (WGBA) -- Members of the Region 3 of the Wisconsin Education Association Council claim they should be heavily included in the back to school discussions.

Tonight, members of the region, which covers Northeast Wisconsin, met virtual to discuss the different plans from each school district.

"We are holding this meeting because we firmly believe educators and support staff need at the forefront when it comes to re-opening schools," said Erin Karsten, one of the members.

The group met virtually over zoom and went over a variety of topics. Many school districts are offering different models. Green Bay this week said they will start this year with an all virtual model.

"This discussion is done in-order to maximize the safety of students and teachers." Karsten said. "We hope this event gives a voice to the unique concerns educators are facing now."

The panel of eight educators said they would like to return to in-person classes, but safety is their current top priority.
