The Door County Sheriff's Office is releasing more details on how they found a man who had been reported missing.
The Sheriff's Office says Timothy Wessel was found early Monday evening in the village of Forestville after being missing for 24 hours. Deputies initially responded to this call on Sunday night, and the Sheriff's Office says they searched the area through the evening.
The Sheriff's Office says the search expanded Monday to include land, water and air searches. Nearly 100 volunteers assisted the local fire department in searching on the ground. The Sheriff's Office says they searched the entire village of Forestville and then expanded their efforts into the township of Forestville and northern Kewaunee County. Wardens from the Department of Natural Resources searched the waters and marshy areas near the Anaphee River. They were assisted by a DNR aircraft that is stationed in Rhinelander.
The Door County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit searched the area of the Anaphee Trail and rural areas of the township. The Door County Emergency Services, Door County Emergency Manager, Civil Air Patrol, Southern Door EMRs and the Red Cross assisted with this incident.
When Wessel was finally found, the Sheriff's Office says he was taken to the Door County Medical Center as a precautionary measure after being out in the elements for 24 hours.
