The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has issued a warning to shoppers after 11 people in the state were sickened after purchasing Del Monte vegetable trays.
The 11 victims, along with three additional people in Minnesota, all reported buying the trays at a Kwik Trip store before becoming sick.
Kwik Trip is cooperating with state officials and removed the trays from their stores Friday, the DHS says.
The trays, sold in six and 12-ounce varieties, contained broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and dill dip.
DHS officials say the trays may contain Cyclospora, a parasite commonly found in developing countries. Symptoms include diarrhea, loss of appetite and weight, cramping, bloating, nausea, fatigue, and low-grade fever.
The trays "may have been available at other retail locations," the DHS says. Further details on the product's distribution are pending.
