MENOMINEE, MI (NBC26) -- Pirate's Cove Pub and Grill in Menominee, Michigan is half a bottle away from running out of its most popular liquor, Captain Morgan, according to bar manager Colleen Rautanen.

This comes as many liquor stores and bars across Michigan are experiencing a shortage in alcohol. Republic National Distributing Company, one of the distributors in Michigan, is transitioning into a new facility in Livonia which has caused software issues and delivery delays.

The Michigan Liquor Control Commission said it’s taking action to ensure liquor shelves are stocked this holiday season, but Rautanen is concerned. She said Thanksgiving is a big holiday for business with college students coming home and stopping by the bar.

"They all go out the night before Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, and that's a big seller for college kids is spiced rum," she added.

In a statement, Michigan State Executive Vice President for RNDC said:
“We apologize to our customers and suppliers...We know this has caused some of our customers serious difficulties. We appreciate your patience as we take action to improve our performance to levels you have come to expect.”
