'Suspicious item' in Sheboygan prompts evacuations: No explosives found, suspect arrested

A 42-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and will be referred to the Sheboygan County District Attorney’s Office for “various offenses,” police said.

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. — A report of a "suspicious" item that led Sheboygan police to evacuate residents near N. 14th St. and New York Ave. did not contain explosives and poses no danger to the public, police said.

A 42-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and will be referred to the Sheboygan County District Attorney’s Office for “various offenses,” according to police.

The incident began when police received a call at 8:43 a.m. on Tuesday about a suspicious item in the 1300 block of New York Ave.

The Milwaukee County Explosives and Ordnance Disposal Unit responded, along with multiple other agencies.
