GREEN BAY, Wis. — Green Bay Police were called to the area near Irwin Ave. and Baird St. around 2:30 Wednesday morning, for reports of a car in the river.

Officers were able to locate the car and its occupant when they heard yelling from the water.

The driver was able to exit the car but was still in the water when police arrived. The officers used a throw bag to get rope out to the victim and help them to shore. The driver was able to hold onto the rope of their own power and climb out of the water.

The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police say weather may have been a factor in the incident, but it is still under investigation.
