WISCONSIN (NBC 26) — Per Senator Ron Johnson's office, the Wisconsin senator has tested positive for coronavirus.

Sen. Johnson was previously exposed on Sept. 14 and quarantined until Sept. 29. He then returned to D.C. and was subsequently exposed.

"After learning of this exposure, the senator was tested yesterday afternoon," October 2, according to a statement released by his office. "This test came back positive."

According to his office, Sen. Johnson "feels healthy" and is not experiencing symptoms.

Sen. Johnson's staff in D.C. have been mostly working remotely and will transition to completely virtual for the time being.

Sen. Johnson is the third Republican senator to test positive for coronavirus in the 24 hours, implicating the majority stakehold on confirming votes for Justice Amy Coney Barrett's upcoming Supreme Court nomination hearings.

At least seven positive cases have been linked to her introductory event hosted by President Trump in the Rose Garden, where many were seen socializing in close proximity without masks or PPE.

Sen. Johnson was not at the event last Saturday because he was still quarantined in Wisconsin.
