The woman found guilty for hitting and killing a man crossing the road, nearly four years ago, is heading to prison.
A judge sentenced Kristin Carlson, 45, of Fond Du Lac, to seven and a half months in prison, five years probation and 400 hours of community service.
Carlson pleaded no contest to the charge of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle earlier this year.
It comes after she struck Fred Lick, 81, with her car as he was walking across County Highway Q, near King. Investigators say she was driving up to 30 miles over the speed limit when Lick was instantly killed by the crash.
"I have not had a day go by that I have not replayed that day in my head" said Kristin Carlson as she spoke to the judge at her sentencing Tuesday.
"I have lost jobs, friends and relationships to the point where there are many times I felt no purpose to be on this earth anymore. It is only because of my three children that I stand here today still breathing."
According to the criminal complaint, Carlson received a text message just 23 seconds before she called 911 to report the incident.
