The terror attack in New York City Tuesday happened just blocks from the World Trade Center site and memorial. For Wisconsinites with ties to New York, it was a scary situation.

Rachel Goyette moved from Milwaukee to New York in September 2012. She told NBC26 she feels numb after what happened and said there's a feeling of sadness in the city.

Major Ronald Lemirand with The Salvation Army in Marinette volunteered in New York City shortly after 9/11. He said Tuesday's attack brought back memories.

"It's just like oh boy, here we go again," he explained. "Is it first a truck and then something bigger later on? So it does get you to think."

But Goyette said New Yorkers are resilient and she doesn't think the attack will slow them down.

"Generally speaking, I feel very safe in the city," she said. "I feel the police presence is very felt."
