At about 1 p.m. Monday, the Waupaca County 911 Communication Center received a call of a two vehicle crash on Highway 10 at Highway 22, located in Waupaca. The 911 Communication Center advised a semi-truck struck a Waupaca County Highway vehicle and there was lane blockage and injuries.
The Waupaca Police Department arrived at the location and determined a semi-truck was traveling west on Highway 10 and struck a Waupaca County Highway vehicle that was parked in the right lane with emergency lights and an arrow activated to warn motorists to merge into the other lane of traffic. The Waupaca County vehicle was in the process of placing signs to advise motorists of a lane closure on Highway 10.
The Waupaca County vehicle was also equipped with a truck-mounted impact attenuator (crash cushion). The Ione occupant of the County Highway vehicle was transported to Theda Clark — Waupaca with non-life threatening injuries.
The operator of the semi-unit sustained non-life threatening injuries and was also transported to Theda Clark — Waupaca. The crash scene remains under investigation. The Waupaca Police Department was assisted by The Waupaca County Sheriff's Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Waupaca Fire District, Gold Cross Ambulance and Nelson's Sales Towing.
