We've all seen the violent sometimes deadly videos all over social media.

More recently,  videos of deadly police shootings, what really happens when you press the share button?

Dr Ryan Martin studies theories of anger at University of Wisconsin Green Bay. He talked to NBC26 about what these viral violent videos are really doing to your brain

“I imagine watching a video on Facebook was the first time they had ever seen a dead body. It really shapes how we go forth in the world and how we interpret new phenomenon we experience.” Says Dr Martin.

These videos bringing up emotions for many including  Appleton Police who say the shooting are tragic but can't reflect on all officers.

“We need to remember just because and officer in Texas does something wrong doesn't mean the same thing about an officer in grand chute or our area.” Says Police Chief Todd Thomas

While some say sharing the videos create awareness others on social media say watching the violence does no good.

Pastor Green with Divine Temple Church in Green Bay says the constant exposure creates a dangerous feeling.

Its the constant showing so now that creates fear and when you create fear its easy to start things to happening

For Dr Martin the choice is up to you.

“I would encourage everyone to be thoughtful about the media they consume because it does shape up and change us” Dr Martin adds.

That way if there is ever an issue, the mind is not operating off what it has seen, but what it has learned.
