ThedaCare considers Fox Cities consolidation

An announcement out of the Fox Cities could mean big changes down the road for your medical care needs. ThedaCare announced this week that Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah and the Appleton Medical Center are considering combining forces and putting both facilities under one new roof. NBC26 explains what and when some of those changes could occur.

The idea behind considering this major move according to ThedaCare is to provide the highest quality of care at the lowest possible cost to the public. Considering Neenah's facility is approaching 110 years old and Appleton's is going on 60, some major upkeep would likely be just around the corner. Another reason to combine the two hospitals according to ThedaCare representatives is to reduce some of the redundancies of care that could be provided at just one facility.

"You don't want to think about which place do I go. I gotta figure which place I go to for heart care which place I go for stroke care… We went to our doctors and asked them what do you think about this idea? And they gave us a resounding positive," says ThedaCare’s President and CEO Dean Gruner.

No word on where they would like to be located if they make the move just yet, other than somewhere very accessible and visible. This idea is still very new and ThedaCare is going to study and evaluate the idea for probably for the next year or two before making any major decisions public.
