A Shawano man will spend 10 years behind bars after admitting to engaging in sex acts with two teenage girls in 2015 and 2016 on the Menominee Indian Reservation.
William Wilber IV, 35, was sentenced to two concurrent terms of 10 years in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release, after pleading guilty in April to two counts of sexual abuse of a minor under 16.
The investigation revealed in May 2015, Wilber engaged in a sex act with a then 13-year-old girl outside Keshena near Legend Lake. Then, he engaged in a sex act with a 14-year-old girl around July 4, 2016 near the same location, investigators said.
Wilber admitted to sexually assaulting both victims, according to police. Throughout the investigation, they found Wilber took sexually inappropriate actions towards other underage girls as well.
During sentencing, the judge pointed out Wilber's history of preying on underage girls. He also said Wilber uses alcohol as a tool to overcome the resistance of the young victims and to rationalize his behavior.
The case was investigated by the Menominee Tribal Police Department and the FBI.
