Rooftop fire at Walmart in Grand Chute during snow storm

GRAND CHUTE, WI – Fire crews battled a rooftop fire at a Walmart in Grand Chute during the snow storm.

It happened around 1:15 a.m. Saturday at the Walmart at 955 North Mutual Way.

When crews arrived on scene, flames could be seen shooting from the roof of the store.

The store was evacuated.

Despite treacherous weather conditions, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. They had it under control by 2 a.m.

The fire was confined to the rooftop refrigeration unit. The interior of the building remained largely unaffected. The refrigeration unit was a total loss.

The store has since reopened.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Appleton and Village of Fox Crossing Fire Departments helped put out the fire.
