Man who drowned in Waushara County lake ID'd

Waushara County Sheriff’s Deputies have identified the 45-year-old Racine man who drowned Friday evening as Kevin Mauer.

According to deputies this happened on a lake called the Upper White River Mill Pond located in the Town of Deerfield.

The fire department’s dive team responded to the location after a call about a person in the water who did not come back up. Deputies say Mauer was paddle boarding when he fell in the water. He was not wearing a personal flotation device.

Deputies say the victim was recovered by the dive teams at 8:05 p.m. The Waushara County Coroner was on scene and pronounced the time of death at 8:30 p.m. 

According to deputies, the victim was at a cottage with family.
