At least ten tornadoes hit Northeast Wisconsin during Wednesday's severe weather, including an EF1 that tore through Appleton and Kimberly, the National Weather Service confirmed Thursday.
A line of thunderstorms produced 50 to 70 mph winds and eight tornadoes across east-central Wisconsin Wednesday afternoon. This is the second largest tornado outbreak in the NWS Green Bay
service area, the NWS said.
The largest was on April 10, 2011, when 10 tornadoes occurred.
The first tornado was reported two miles east/northeast of Gresham in Shawano County at 1:47 p.m. The brief tornado touch down was captured on video.
The second tornado was reported in Green Lake County in Markesan at 2:45 p.m. Green Lake County Emergency Management surveyed the path and said it is from a tornado.
The next hit the Appleton and Kimberly area around 3:28 p.m. and traveled 5.9 miles. It had an EF1 rating.
According to the NWS, the tornado started in far northeast Winnebago County and moved to the southeast side of Appleton, affecting Kimberly and Little Chute.

Peak winds were estimated at 95 mph, according to the NWS. Trees were damaged or uprooted and several structures were hit, including two industrial buildings. A self-serve car wash lost its roof.
Two more tornadoes were reported in Outagamie County: one in Bear Creek and another in Mackville. Both happened just after 3:30 p.m.
Four tornadoes were reported in Shawano County. Two EF1 tornadoes were reported in the Nichols area. Both had estimated peak winds of 90 mph.
A third was reported near Pulaski. It was also rated EF1 with 90 mph winds. Several trees were uprooted and a barn was destroyed.
Finally, a weak tornado was reported in Morrison in Brown County sometimes between 3:53 and 3:55 p.m. It has been rated an EF0 with peak 60 mph winds.
