A Milwaukee teen was arrested Wednesday for allegedly stealing a car and leading officers on a high-speed chase through Fond du Lac and Washington County.
Around 2:11 a.m., the Fond du Lac Police Department responded to a carjacking at the Wal-Mart on N. Rolling Meadows Drive.
The victim told police her car was stolen from the parking lot by a man who acted like he had a gun. She was not hurt.
While officers were at the scene, they saw the stolen car driving south on I-41 near S. Military Road.
Wisconsin State Patrol and the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Department started following the stolen car. Officers chased the car for 26 miles, police said.
The chase ended in Washington County near Hwy 60, with the help of the Washington County Sheriff's Department, after the car crashed near an off-ramp.
The teen ran out of the car and was arrested after a short chase.
He was identified as a 15-year-old from Milwaukee and was first taken to the hospital for medical clearance. He is now facing charges of robbery and operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating.
