A jury found a Manitowoc doctor who was accused of improperly prescribing and distributing medication not guilty on all 19 counts Friday in federal court.
Charles Szyman, who worked for Holy Family Memorial Hospital for 16 years before being fired in November of 2015, had pleaded not guilty to 19 federal charges of unlawfully prescribing prescription painkillers. He was accused of overprescribing oxycodone, fentanyl, morphine, amphetamine and hydrocondone to patients.
Szyman's attorney said the doctor prescribed medication based on the level of pain patients described.
