OCONTO (NBC 26) -- Four people and one pet were found dead after firefighters responded to a house fire in Oconto.
Firefighters responded in the early morning hours Friday on a house fire on Fabry Street in Oconto. Fire officials said crews found heavy fire conditions.
During the suppression efforts, four people and one pet were found deceased in the fire scene. Identification of the victims and notification of the next-of-kin is pending.
While the victims have not been identified, the Oconto Unified School District issued a statement referencing the fire and calling it a tragic incident. The school district said counselors are available in the school offices for students.
According to the Oconto Police Department, multiple law enforcement agencies are investigating the fire.
