It's a big honor for a Greenleaf dairy farm. Brickstead Dairy has been named the winner of the 2017 Wisconsin Leopold Conservation Award.
Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach recognized owner Dan Brick on Friday for his efforts to prevent run-off into waterways. Brick uses methods such as cover crops and a no till system for planting.
Brick said he's honored to receive the award. "Hopefully I can take this award and tell my story to other people to help inspire them to help with conservation efforts on their farm."
Brickstead Dairy was founded in the 1840's and has grown to 900 cows.
The award they received is named after Aldo Leopold who is a conservation pioneer that spent most of his life in Wisconsin.
