Gov. Walker securing grant funding for better broadband access

Posted

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker was visiting the northwoods this week, as he has secured another $110,000 in grant funding for more high-speed internet access throughout the region.

The new funds will go towards Oneida and Florence counties for more high-speed broadband towers.

The Governor and the Wisconsin Public Service Commission have already given out more than $1.5 million in broadband grants across the state this year.

This new grant will help the northwoods adapt its economy from a place largely reliant on tourism, to one where business can still get done.

There is also an additional $11 million in broadband grants packed into the next state budget, which Governor Walker expects to pass before the end of summer, in late September.
