The full U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals has agreed to hear Brendan Dassey’s appeal of his conviction.
The appeals court released the decision on Friday.
In June, a three-judge panel ruled 2-1 that Dassey's confession to helping his uncle Steven Avery rape and murder Teresa Halbach was coerced by investigators.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice then filed a petition in early July asking for the full Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals to hear arguments in the case against Brendan Dassey.
The state previously said that if the full court does not take the case or rules against the state, it would consider taking the case to the Supreme Court.
Oral argument will be heard on Tuesday, September 26.
