A basement fire in Green Bay has left four people without a home.
The Green Bay Metro Fire Department was sent to 2761 Canyon Bluff Road just before 5:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Crews found a two story single family residence with heavy smoke on all levels of the home, the fire department said.
After fighting the fire from the outside, crews entered the home and found a well-involved basement fire, which they put out.
Fire damage was confined to the basement and first floor, the fire department said, but there was significant structural damage to the support structures of a portion of the first floor.
The entire home endured heavy smoke damage.
Three occupants had evacuated the home prior to the arrival of fire crews.
The damage is estimated at $100,000. Although crews know the fire originated in the basement, the cause is still under investigation.
