The former boyfriend of murder victim Nicole VanderHeyden posted a $5,000 signature bond Tuesday in a domestic abuse case involving VanderHeyden's sister.

Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney, who is serving as a special prosecutor in the case, says during Douglass Detrie's initial appearance in Brown County Court, he was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim and another individual.

Detrie was arrested last year, but never charged, for the murder of his then girlfriend Nicole VanderHeyden.

Now, Detrie is charged with Second Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, False Imprisonment and Disorderly Conduct from an incident that allegedly happened in February involving VanderHeyden's sister.

After signing bond Tuesday, Detrie was able to leave court with his lawyer.

VanderHeyden's sister was living with Detrie to help care for her sister and Detrie's child, according to a criminal complaint.

Court documents said Detrie allegedly touched the victim in a sexual manner while the two were driving in Allouez and she told him to stop. He also allegedly would not let her leave the car.

Statements also allege Detrie was physically abusive towards her in the past.
