When firefighters arrived on scene the home was fully engulfed in flames, crews said. Heavy smoke was coming from the northside of the home. The Brown County Sheriff's Department said fire crews were able to put the fire out quickly and discovered two bodies at the scene.
The Suamico Fire Department said one of the victims was found outside of the home, while the other was found just inside the door of the home.
Police say the victims are in their upper 70's. The couple did have a dog that was able to escape. The Brown County Sheriff's Office said the dog was found running around the yard when fire crews arrived. The dog was taken to be checked out by a vet and is with family members at this time.
Woodsdale Street was blocked off for a majority of Monday morning. It reopened around 9 a.m. Monday.
The Arson Task Force is conducting the investigation into what caused the fire.
The names of the deceased are being withheld pending family notification.
Department of Criminal Investigation is on scene along with Medical Examiners office.
