A neighborly dispute over a missing pet duck in Manitowoc led to one neighbor drawing a handgun on the other, according to police.

Manitowoc resident Aaron Shelton told NBC26 he bought two ducklings about two months ago and has kept them as pets at his home.

"The entire city of Manitowoc knows me as the duck man or the duck whisperer," said Shelton.

Last week, one of the ducks went missing, he said.

Shelton asked his next door neighbor if she had taken the duck and she said no, he explained. A few hours later, she came to his house and asked if he wanted to search her garage for the duck, according to the police report. When he said no, she drew a handgun on him, he said. He told police she pressed it against his stomach.

"I disarmed her, pushed her to the ground, and she called the police on me," Shelton said.

She told police Shelton was accusing her of stealing. When police arrived, they arrested the neighbor for pulling the handgun.

"She acknowledged that she did have a gun and that it was loaded," said Detective Andrew Trilling, Manitowoc Police.

NBC26 is not releasing her name until she has been charged.

She was arrested on charges of recklessly endangering safety and carrying a concealed weapon.
